WSOF 19 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening Justin Gaethje successfully defended his lightweight title in a barnburner with Luis Palomino.
This was a back and forth battle on the feet over the course of the first two rounds in which both men took big shots, but Gaethje’s leg kicks and takedowns helped him take the lead. They were keeping up a high pace and that began to tell in the third as Palomino in particular started to slow and Gaethje’s leg kicks began to mount up.
In the end it was the leg kicks that would be Palomino’s undoing as he began to wilt and eventually was dropped to the canvas by those chopping attacks, followed up by ground and pound for the third round TKO finish.
In the co-main event Teddy Holder had to step in to face the debuting UFC veteran Thiago Silva on just a few hours notice after Matt Hamill withdrew due to taking ill backstage.
Holder made the most of the opportunity, producing an upset with a TKO stoppage just 2 minutes into the fight. Just prior to that Silva had sent him back on his heels with a right hand, but Holder came back swinging and dropped him with a right hook that he never quite recovered from, leading to a ground and pound stoppage soon afterwards.
Elsewhere on the main card Timur Valiev made short work of Ed West, dropping him early with a punch and then landing a barrage of blows on the ground to seal a TKO victory with just 1.39mins on the clock.
Opening up the main card Clifford Starks also earned a stoppage victory, submitting Jake Heun with an arm triangle choke deep in the second round.
