Just days after a successful meeting with Conor McGregor in Los Angeles, UFC bosses Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta met with Nate Diaz in his native Stockton yesterday.
With that in mind it obvious to see that they are now looking to book that rematch between McGregor and Diaz again, after initially having scrapped it from UFC 200’s main event after the Irish star refused to do his pre-fight promotional obligations.
However, this time it seems that it’s Diaz who’s throwing a spanner in the works, as TMZ reported that during their meeting an angered White suddenly got up and stormed out of the tavern they were in.
“Obviously I’m not going to disclose details of the deal, but let’s just say my trip to Stockton didn’t go well,” White told TMZ later after returning to Las Vegas.
Diaz is believed to have become a millionaire overnight on the strength of his short-notice victory over McGregor at UFC 196 earlier this year, which delivered 1.5 million pay-per-view buys, and with his newfound star power it’s likely that he’ll be demanding another serious cheque in order to step into the Octagon again.
Whether that’s the reason that White blew up yesterday or not is unclear, but whatever the issue is, let’s hope it can be resolved quickly.
