BAMMA Announce New TV Deal With SyFy In The UK

UK promotion BAMMA have strengthened their position in the market by announcing a new TV deal with the UK branch of the SyFy Channel which is available in 3 million homes.

The deal will see the station broadcasting five live events from the promotion in 2011, starting with BAMMA 5 which airs on Saturday 26th February.

The promotion’s fifth event is shaping up to be it’s best yet, with former UFC and current Strikeforce star Paul Daley taking on main event duties against DEEP champion Yuya Shirai, while TUF 10’s James McSweeney challenges former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez in the co-main event slot.

The UK has been lacking a major promotion in the MMA world for a number of years since the collapse of ‘Cage Rage,’ and UK fans will be now hope that BAMMA can fill the gap and bring quality MMA fighters back to the UK on a regular basis.

  1. If I wanted to watch sports, I would watch a bleedin’ sports channel, not a science fiction channel. For goodness sake, keep it sci-fi will you? Syfy are alienating its target audience. No pun intended.
