Paul Daley may have signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce lately, but the deal is non-exclusive, and so the UK fighter is now putting plans in place to fight in the UK at BAMMA 5 on February 26th.

“Paul has requested to have a fight in the UK, and our deal with Paul we have to sign off on it, and we have to have an opponent approval,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed to MMAWeekly today.

So far no opponent has been selected for the bout, which is expected to headline the show at the MEN Arena, but several names are believed to be under consideration.

Daley made an immediate impression in his first fight for Strikeforce, knocking out Scott Smith in dramatic fashion just 2.09mins into their bout in December.

While Coker appears happy to allow ‘Semtex’ to get another fight under his belt before returning to the U.S, he does have big plans for the hard-hitting fighter later in the year.

“He wants to fight the winner of (Nick) Diaz and Evangelista (Cyborg), and I think that makes a lot of sense,” Coker says.

With Diaz and Cyborg fighting at the end of this month that means that Daley is effectively now the No.1 contender at welterweight in Strikeforce, and if all goes according to plan should fight for the title in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.
