Bellator 177 Results

Bellator 177 took place last night in Hungary and we’ve got the results for you below.

The main event of the evening had originally been set to feature Eduardo Dantas’ latest bantamweight title defense, but it was reduced to a non-title affair after his opponent Leandro Higo failed to make weight after stepping in on short-notice for his debut in the promotion.

It wasn’t the most eventful of fights, but the champion appeared to have the upperhand for much of the three-round contest, getting the better of Higo on the feet and generally being the more active fighter.

That led to two judges scoring the fight as a clean-sweep in his favor, 30-27, but surprisingly the other official saw it 28-29 in Higo’s favor, resulting in Dantas winning by split decision.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event Daniel Weichel emerged with a split decision victory over John Teixeira, despite having been dropped in the first round by a right hand.

Teixeira wasn’t able to finish the job however, and after a closer second round, Weichel really began to find his mark in the striking battle in the final five minutes of the fight, and that proved to be just enough for him to outpoint Teixeira on the scorecards (29-28 x2, 28-29).
