Major MMA Events In January 2015

The first month of the year’s MMA action is already well under way with UFC 182 already in the books, but that’s far from the only event to look out for in January and we’ve got a full rundown of what’s still to come below.

Friday, January 16th: Bellator 132 – Freire Vs Straus

Where: California, United States

Bellator start off their 2015 campaign with the first of their monthly shows and headlining this one is a featherweight title encounter between current champ Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire and Daniel Strauss.

Georgi Karakhanyan Vs Bubba Jenkins takes headline duties while the likes of Houston Alexander and Marius Zaromskis also feature on the main card.

Saturday, January 17th: WSOF 7 – Shields Vs Foster

Where: Las Vegas, United States

Welterweights Jake Shields and Brian Foster front World Series Of Fighting’s first offering of the new year.

Brian Cobbs Vs Jonathan Nunez is your co-main event here.

Sunday, January 18th: UFC Fight Night 58 – McGregor Vs Siver

Where: Boston, United States

Rounding off a busy weekend of MMA action with a rare Sunday night card is UFC Fight Night 59 which will feature the much talked about Conor McGregor looking to secure a featherweight title shot when he goes up against Dennis Siver.

The co-main event for this one could easily have taken top billing as former UFC /WEC title holder Ben Henderson squares up against former Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez.

Saturday, January 24th: UFC On FOX 14 – Gustafsson Vs Johnson

Where: Stockholm, Sweden

The UFC are doing big things with their first event on FOX this year with a 40,000 seater stadium show in Sweden hosting a light-heavyweight No.1 contender fight between Scandanavian star Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

As you might expect there’s a stacked main card too with Dan Henderson going up against Gegard Mousasi and Phil Davis fighting Ryan Bader.

Saturday, January 31st: UFC 183 – Silva Vs Diaz

January goes out with a bang with one of the biggest fights of 2015 as Anderson Silva returns from his broken leg to face Nick Diaz who’s also returning after an almost two year long hiatus.

The co-main event for this one takes place in the welterweight division as Tyron Woodley clashes with the fast rising Kelvin Gastelum, while Ian McCall and John Lineker finally get the chance to fight and Jordan Mein takes on Thiago Alves.
