The first big event of 2016 is already in the books with UFC 196 on January 2nd delivering a thrilling start to the new year, but what else is in store for us this month? Let’s take a look and see.

Friday, January 16th: Invicta FC 15 – Cyborg Vs Ibragimova

Where: California, United States

Cris ‘Cyborg’ finally returns to action, though she abandoned plans to cut down in weight late last year so this will be a featherweight title defense against the 9-1 Russian Daria Ibrgimova instead.

Meanwhile in the co-main event there’s a clash of undefeated fighters as Livia Renata Souza and DeAnna Bennett who are both 8-0 in their pro careers to date.

Saturday, January 17th: UFC Fight Night 81 – Dillashaw Vs Cruz

Where: Boston, United States

What a stacked card the UFC are bringing to Boston for their latest Fight Night card on January 17th, headlined by a fascinating bantamweight title showdown between current champion TJ Dillashaw and former kingpin Dominick Cruz.

There’s real strength in depth to this line-up with former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis returning to fight Eddie Alvarez, Travis Browne up against Matt Mitrione, Ross Pearson battling Francis Trinaldo and Patrick Cote fighting Ben Saunders.

Saturday, January 23rd: WSOF 27 – Ricci Vs Fodor

Where: Memphis, United States

World Series Of Fighting’s first event of the year features former TUF competitor Mike Ricci headlining opposite Caros Fodor

Friday, January 29th: Bellator 148 – Koscheck Vs Secor

Where: California, United States

Bellator kick off their 2016 schedule with the debut of former long-time UFC fighter Josh Koscheck who’ll be hoping to end a five fight losing streak against Matt Secor who brings a 7-2 record to the cage.

Meanwhile, in the co-main event Paul Daley looks to extend his four-fight winning streak when he faces up against Andy Uhrich.

Saturday, January 30th: UFC On FOX 18 – Johnson Vs Bader

Where: New Jersey, United States

The final big event of January takes place on FOX which features a light-heavyweight main event between recent title contender Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader.

There’s a heavyweight clash in the co-main event spot as Josh Barnett takes on Ben Rothwell, while teen sensation Sage Northcutt make a quick return to the Octagon against Andrew Holbrook and Tarec Saffiedine Vs Jake Ellenberger rounds off the main card.
