Major MMA Events In May 2015

It’s quiet on the MMA front this weekend as everyone’s attention turns to the boxing extravaganza that is Mayweather Vs Pacquiao, but rest assured normal service will resume in just a weeks time.

Sunday May 10th: UFC Fight Night 65 – Hunt Vs Miocic

Where: Adelaide, Australia

This month’s mixed martial arts action begins down under in Australia with a heavyweight bout between local hero Mark Hunt and Stipe Miocic serving as the main event of the evening.

TUF Smashes winner Robert Whittaker takes on co-main event duties against Brad Tavares, while Aussie fighters like Anthony Perosh and Kyle Noke also feature on the card.

Friday, May 15th: Bellator 137 – Halsey Vs Grove

Where: California, United States

Undefeated Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey is set to defend his title in the main event of Bellator 137 against former UFC fighter Kendall Grove who’s 2-1 so far in the promotion.

Meanwhile, in the bantamweight co-main event Eduardo Dantas looks to bounce back from a defeat last time out when he fights Mike Richman who’s coming off back-to-back victories.

Saturday, May 16th: UFC Fight Night 66 – Edgar Vs Faber

Where: Manila, Philippines

A day later we’ve got one of the most intriguing match-ups of the month headlining UFC Fight Night 66 as Urijah Faber steps back up to the featherweight division to face Frankie Edgar.

Also featuring on the main card for the UFC’s first trip to the Philippines is a middleweight encounter between Gegard Mousasi and Costas Philippou, while it’s fitting that ‘The Filipino Wrecking Machine’ Mark Munoz will have his retirement fight here, taking on Luke Barnatt.

Friday, May 22nd: ONE FC 27 – Aoki Vs Ando

Where: Kallang, Singapore

Keeping the MMA action going in South-East Asia less than a week later is ONE FC 27 in Singapore which finds the promotion’s lightweight champion Shinya Aoki tangling with Koji Ando who wields a five fight winning streak heading into this title fight.

Saturday, May 23rd: UFC 187 – Johnson Vs Cormier

Where: Las Vegas, United States

It may not be the card we were expecting, but UFC 187 still offers a strong line-up headlined by a fight to establish a new light-heavyweight champion for the first time in four years as Anthony Johnson fights Daniel Cormier.

A second major title fight co-headlines here as middleweight champ Chris Weidman puts his belt on the line against Vitor Belfort, while Donald Cerrone takes on John Makdessi and Andrei Arlovski squares up to Travis Browne.

Saturday, May 30th: UFC Fight Night 67 – Condit Vs Alves

Where: Goiana, Brazil

The UFC squeezes one final event in at the end of the month as they make their latest trip to Brazil for a welterweight encounter between Carlos Condit and Thiago Alves.

Nik Lentz Vs Charles Oliveira serves as your co-main event here backed up between lightweight action featuring former TUF: Smashes winner Norman Parke going up against the in-form Gilbert Burns.
