Yesterday we reported that the UK station Five, who had been showing the current season of The Ultimate Fighter, were not planning to air Saturday night’s finale live. In their wisdom, the TV bosses had instead decided to wait until the following Thursday evening to air the conclusion of the show.
Needless to say MMA fans in the UK were up in arms at this decision and quickly bombarded the Five station, and UFC president Dana White and the UFC’s UK president Marshall Zelaznik with emails and tweets asking for something to be done about the situation.
Zelaznik dutifully replied to say that they were looking into the matter, and tonight they have confirmed that the event will now be shown on ESPN UK live on Sunday morning at 2am.
It’s a terrific result for UK fans, and again shows the UFC’s eagerness to give the fans what they want. It’s also pleasing that ESPN were willing to rearrange their schedule at short notice in order to show the event. Hearty backslaps all round!
