The final month of 2010 sees all the major MMA promotions on-board as they look to end the year with a bang.

Saturday 4th December: The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale

December’s action gets off to a busy start on Saturday the 4th with two events set for the same night, the first being the TUF season 12 finale.

The event features the final of the 12th season of the long running show, alongside notable bouts like Stephan Bonnar Vs Igor Pokrajac and Demian Maia Vs Kendall Grove.

Saturday 4th December: Strikeforce: Henderson Vs Babalu 2

Going head-to-head with the UFC is always a daunting task, but for Strikeforce it’s been made doubly difficult by late call-offs due to injury by both Herschel Walker and Valentijn Overeem.  At the time of writing replacements are still to be confirmed, but the good news for the promotion is that they still have a strong card regardless.

Dan Henderson making his second appearance, this time at light-heavyweight, against Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral.  With Paul Daley Vs Scott Smith and Robbie Lawler Vs Matt Lindland also on the card there’s plenty of entertainment to be had here.

Saturday 11th December:  UFC 124: GSP Vs Koscheck 2

A week later there’s another two big events to look forward to, including a return to Ontario, Canada for UFC 124.

The headliner is clearly the big draw here with TUF 12 coaches Georges St.Pierre and Josh Koscheck doing battle for a second time in what’s shaping up to be a perfect hero vs villain match-up.  In all honesty the rest of the card isn’t especially stacked, but I’d earmark Charles Oliveira Vs Jim Miller as a very interesting fight for the upper half of the lightweight division.

Saturday 11th December 2010: K-1 Grand Prix 2010 Finals

Switching from MMA action just for a moment, the 11th also sees the finals of the K-1 heavyweight Grand Prix in Japan.

This should be considered a must-watch, with Strikeforce’s Alistair Overeem currently in scintillating form and there’s a feeling he could emerge the winner, though others, most notably defending champion Semmy Schilt, will have other ideas.

Thursday 16th December: WEC 53 – Henderson Vs Pettis

And so it’s time to say farewell to the WEC promotion as it hosts it’s final event before officially merging with it’s elder sibling the UFC in 2011.

As you’d expect they’ve put together a great card that includes two important title fights.  The main event sees Ben Henderson looking to defend his title one last time against Anthony Pettis with the winner earning the No.1 contender spot in the UFC as a result, while Dominic Cruz Vs Scott Jorgensen fight to see who’ll be the UFC’s first ever banatamweight champion.

Friday 31st December 2010: Dynamite!! 2010

There’s some debate over whether this event will take place or not due to K-1’s financial difficulties, but until we hear otherwise we’re working under the assumption that it will still go ahead with their traditional end-of-year show.

At this stage little is known about the fighters who could be involved, expect that DREAM’s featherweight title will be on the line as Bibiano Fernandez fights Hiroyuki Takaya.
