Firstly, apologies as we’re a little late with our rundown of the major MMA events of the month, but better than never and though it’s generally going to be a quieter spell than we saw in January, there’s still a few shows to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Saturday, 11th February: One FC 2
The first of two big Asian MMA events this month arrives on Saturday as up and coming promotion One FC delivers their second show which takes place in Indonesia.
A collection of Asian stars will compete at the show alongside foreign fighters like Ole Laursen, Rolles Gracie, Bob Sapp and Rustam Khabilov.
Wednesday 15th February: UFC On Fuel TV 1: Ellenberger Vs Sanchez
The UFC hold their first ever live event on Fuel TV this month, and despite the fact that the station isn’t going to generate the same kind of figures they’ve been used to on the likes of FX or Spike TV, that’s not stopped them from putting on a good line-up.
Headlining the show is a meaningful welterweight clash between Diego Sanchez and Jake Ellenberger, while heavyweights Stefan Struve and Dave Herman are amongst the other fighter’s who’ll be competing on the main card.
Saturday, 26th February: UFC 144: Edgar Vs Henderson
The UFC finally make their long-awaited return to Japan at the end of the month and to celebrate they’ve brought a title fight with them.
That will of course a be a lightweight tilt between current champion Frankie Edgar and former WEC 155lb title holder Ben Henderson. Memories of the PRIDE era will also be evoked when Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson makes his return to Japan to take on Ryan Bader.
