June is upon us, and if you’re an MMA fan then you’re going to be in your element over the next 30 days, with action every single weekend for you to enjoy from many of the sports biggest promotions.
Saturday 4th June – The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale
The culmination of TUF season 13 kicks off the month this Saturday night with a tasty headline bout between the high-flying Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida.
Of course there will also be a sprinking of TUF 13 fighters throughout the card, and the final of this season to crown the latest ‘Ultimate Fighter’.
Saturday 11th June – UFC 131: Carwin Vs Dos Santos
Only a week later the UFC are back again with a big show from Vancouver, Canada as heavyweight stars Shane Carwin and Junior Dos Santos battle it out in the main event of UFC 131 to establish who will face current champion Cain Velasquez later in the year.
Also look out for Kenny Florian’s debut at featherweight against Diego Nunes, with a win likely to guarantee him the next title shot against Jose Aldo at 145lbs.
Saturday 18th June – Strikeforce: Overeem Vs Werdum
Despite a series of UFC events throughout June, it’s Strikeforce’s event on Saturday 18th that’s the real star this month. Undoubtedly one of the most stacked cards in Strikeforce history, the show is built around the last two quarter-final fights in the promotion’s heavyweight GP.
Alistair Overeem Vs Fabricio Werdum takes top billing, alongside Josh Barnett Vs Fabricio Werdum, but that’s not all. Also look out for Gina Carano’s long-awaited return against Sarah D’Alelio, Daniel Cormier Vs Jeff Monson, and a full undercard airing live on HDNet fronted by KJ Noons Vs Jorge Masvidal.
Friday 24th June – Strikeforce Challengers 16
The final weekend in June is a busy one, starting with strikeforce Challengers 16 on the Friday night.
Up and coming talent on display will include lightweights Caros Fedor Vs James Terry in the main event, with Randy’s son Ryan Couture in the co-main event against Matt Ricehouse and Antwain Britt vs Danillo Villefort further down the card.
Saturday 25th June – Bellator 46 (Season 5 Premiere)
Onto the Saturday night and after a month’s hiatus Bellator are back for their fifth season which once again will air on MTV2.
An all new featherweight tournament will kick-off the new season, with Sengoku stand-out Marlon Sandro being the man to beat.
Sunday 26th June – UFC On Versus 4: Marquardt Vs Johnson
A packed month of action then comes to an end on the Sunday night with UFC on Versus 4, headlined by Nate Marquardt in his welterweight debut against the hard-hitting Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.
Also switching divisions will be Tyson Griffin who drops down to 145lbs to take on former No.1 contender Manny Gamburyan, as does Joe ‘Daddy’ Stevenson who faces Javier Vasquez, while a heavyweight encounter between kickboxers Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo is a potential barnburner.
