April was one of the most action-packed months in some time with big events every weekend, but there’s an opportunity to take a well-earned breather in May.

With the UFC cooling their heels after four events in four weeks, Bellator on hiatus until their summer series kicks in, and other notable promotions like Invicta FC And World Series Of Fighting not having anything scheduled this month, that leaves a couple of weeks break before things start to pick up again.

Saturday, May 18th: UFC On FX 8: Belfort Vs Rockhold

It’ll be the middle of the month before we see the first major MMA action in May as the UFC returns to Brazil for the latest ‘UFC On FX’ card.

Headlining this one is a middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and incoming Strikeforce 185lb champion Luke Rockhold.

Another former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza also makes his debut in the co-main event opposite Costa Philippou, while Rafael Dos Anjos Vs Evan Dunham is another good match-up to look for on the main card.

Saturday, May 25th: UFC 160: Velasquez Vs Silva 2

The following weekend it’s the big PPV offering of the month as the UFC heads back to it’s home base of Las Vegas for UFC 159.

A rematch between current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva headlines the show, while there’s also another battle of the big guys in the co-main event as Junior Dos Santos squares off against Mark Hunt.

Also keep your eyes peeled for a No.1 contender bout in the lightweight division between Gray Maynard and TJ Grant, plus Donald Cerrone Vs KJ Noons should have a fun 155lb scrap.

Friday, May 31st: One FC: Rise To Power

finally, we end the month over in Asia, in the Philippines to be precise, for ONE FC’s next event, titled ‘Rise To Power’ which is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Honorio Banario and Bae Young Kwon.

There’s also the interim bantamweight title on the line as former DREAM champion Bibiano Fernandes faces Koetsu Okazaki.

Also look out for former UFC fighters Kamal Shalorus, Phil Baroni and Yasuhiro Urushitani fighting on the main card.
