Major MMA Fights In February 2013

Another month of MMA action is upon us and we’ve got a rundown of the must-see events in February for you below.

Saturday, 2nd February: ONE FC 7

February gets underway with Asian promotion ONE FC’s seventh event in Malaysia.

In all honestly there’s not much in the way of star power here compared to some of their previous shows, but they will host a featherweight title pitting Honorio Banario (7-1) Vs Eric Kelly (9-0).

Saturday, 2nd February: UFC 156: Aldo Vs Edgar

Tonight the UFC hosts a stacked card in Las Vegas that’s headlined by a dream title fight for the featherweight division with current champion Jose Aldo taking on former lightweight kingpin Frankie Edgar.

With Alistair Overeem Vs Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva and Rashad Evans Vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira amongst the other fights on the main card this is a must-see event.

Thursday, 7th February: Bellator 88

Bellator have a middleweight tournament final lined up for this Thursday night on Spike TV as previous tournament winners Macquiel Falcao and Alexander Shlemenko battle it out for the vacant belt.

The event also hosts the start of a new featherweight tournament.

Thursday, 14th February: Bellator 89

A week later there’s more Bellator action and another title fight as Eduardo Dantas attempts to defend his bantamweight title against Marcos Galvao.

A new middleweight tournament also gets underway at the event.

Saturday, 16th February: UFC On Fuel TV 7

The first UFC on Fuel TV event takes place midway through the month, and is also interchangeably known as UFC: London.

An interim bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Michael McDonald headlines this one, but Cub Swanson Vs Dustin Poirier and Jim Manuwa Vs Cyrille Diabate should also be fun scraps on the main card.

Thursday, 21st February: Bellator 90

A featherweight tournament final stemming from last season featuring Shahbulat Shamhalaev Vs Rad Martinez headlines Bellator 90.

The event is also expected to host Muhammad ‘King Mo’ Lawal’s light-heavyweight semi-final bout with Emanuel Newton.

Saturday, 23rd February: UFC 157: Rousey Vs Carmouche

A couple of days later it’s time for the UFC to make history as they put on the first ever woman’s MMA fight in the UFC as newly installed 135lb champion Ronda Rousey headlines the show opposite Liz Carmouche.

There’s a strong main card to back them up with Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida battling it out for possible title contention in the co-main event while Urijah Faber takes on Ivan Menjivar and Josh Koscheck welcomes back Robbie Lawler to the Octagon.

Thursday, 28th February: Bellator 91

The whole fight card for Bellator’s final event of the month has not been released yet, but we do know that it’ll contain a light-heavyweight title fight between light-heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu and Attila Vegh.
