Having had a prior fight in the UFC just months earlier, stepping in at short notice to fight Antoni Hardonk, Mike Wessel had some idea of what lay in store for him if he could make it through the show. Despite that he was unable to fight his way back onto the big stage via TUF, losing by submission to Marcus Jones in the first round of their preliminary bout.
Now 32, Wessel fought TUF season 2’s Dan Christison in the headline event of CFC 4 in February, and was submitted late in the final round. Though not officially recorded yet, he also fought in June at AXC 8, winning by KO. His next fight is just days away, taking on Chris Hawk on October 9th at a local event.
In July Wessel came back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after being arrested outside an Irish pub in Arkensas after charging a group of people during a drunken altercation. En-route to the Detention Center Wessel began shouting abuse and making death threats at the police officers in the car with him. The episode ended with Wessel being charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and first degree terroristic threatening.
