Wes Sims was another familiar face on TUF 10 having fought in the UFC several years previously. Sims lived up to his reputation as a joker on the show and gained significant airtime as a result, but inside the cage it was a different story, being quickly submitted in his only bout with Justin Wren.
Despite his notoriety and prior link to the promotion Sims wasn’t given a second chance by the UFC. In January Sims reemerged as a late replacement on a high profile bout with former pro-wrestling star Bobby Lashley at Strikeforce: Miami. Sims wasn’t able to make the most of the opportunity though and was handed another first round defeat, taking his career record to 22-13-1 (2nc).
The journeyman fighter was then in the running for another notable fight with Tim Sylvia in what would have been a rematch of their 2004 encounter in Hawaii which Sims had lost by TKO. The March fight was scrapped however after being deemed, “non competitive” by the commission. Sims hasn’t fought since, but has celebrated the birth of his son Max in July. With no fights on the horizon he is now preparing to embark on a series of seminars around the country.
