Another former NFL player turned MMA fighter, Marcus Jones gained a cult following on the show for his mild and at times almost child-like manner which came in stark contrast to his hulking 6ft’6″ 265lb physique and led to him being affectionately nicknamed, “Big Baby” . Despite suspect striking Jones showed promise on the mat, tapping Mike Wessel in the first round of his prelim bout. Jones continued his momentum with a KO victory over Darrill Schoonover, but just as it looked like he was a candidate for a spot in the final he was KO’d by Brendan Schaub.
Disillusioned after the loss Jones considered retirement, but was talked into giving it another go at the season finale where he was paired up with fellow TUF 10 fighter Matt Mitrione who Jones had had an angry confrontation with in the house. Jones limited striking and weak chin cost him dearly again in the fight, leading to a KO early in the second round.
Two KO defeats in a row was the final straw for Jones who chose to retire from MMA after the fight. Despite no longer featuring in the UFC Jones popularity amongst fans led to him appearing as one of the special bonus characters in the UFC Undisputed 2010 video game.
