Looking To The Future:
So now you know who the current K.O kings are in the UFC, but who else might be set to join them in the future? There are definitely some likely candidates. Amongst them some names that stand out include current light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida who has suddenly found his striking power in recent times with two K.O’s in his last two fights against Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans.
The fast rising heavyweight star Shane Carwin is another good bet. With only three appearances in the octagon he already has two knockouts to his name, one being a name already on the K.O list – Gabriel Gonzaga.
Of course if Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson eventually finds his way back from early retirement and a Hollywood career (which he probably will) then he certainly has the striking acumen to make it onto the list with Marvin Eastman and Wanderlei Silva already having fallen victim to his punching power in the UFC.
And finally, we can’t have a list of knockout artists without mentioning Wanderlei Silva. He is one of the most devastating strikers in martial arts history, though most of his 12 career knockouts were despatched during his time in the Pride Fighting Championships. He does however have two K.O’s during his time in the octagon, one way back in UFC 20 against Tony Petarra and one since his return to the promotion against Keith Jardine. Though his record since he made his way back to the UFC has been poor it would be wise not to bet against Silva adding another K.O to his resume before his time is up.
