UK promotion BAMMA will have to do without former UFC star Phil Baroni for their forthcoming sixth event on May 21st due to an injury, but another veteran has stepped in to replace him.

Another former UFC fighter Ivan Salaverry will now come out of retirement to take his place in a fight with Matt Ewin (21-9-1), who has himself only recently returned to fighting after a three year absence.

It’s also been three years since Salaverry’s last fight, a loss to Rousimar Palhares at UFC 84. Shortly afterwards he called time on his career, leaving with a record of 12-7, but it appears that he still harbors a desire to compete after all.

Salaverry Vs Ewin will form part of a three-fight main card for BAMMA 6, with Tom ‘Kong’ Watson Vs Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua headlining the card, and Frank Trigg Vs John Phillips also on tap.

BAMMA 6 Fight Card:

  • Murilo ‘Shogun’ Rua Vs Tom ‘Kong’ Watson
  • Frank Trigg Vs John Phillips
  • Ivan Salaverry Vs Matt Ewin
