Shark Fights 13: Fight Card

On Saturday night the fast rising Shark Fights promotion will deliver their first pay-per-view event live from the Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.  The prelims will also be airing for free live on, making this event a solid choice for MMA fans this coming weekend.

Main Card:

Headlining the promotions 13th show is a light-heavyweight bout featuring former UFC fighter Keith Jardine and Strikeforce’s Trevor Prangley.

Jardine was released from the UFC at the end of June, but has been told that if he can halt his current four fight losing streak then he could find himself back on the big stage before long, making this a must-win bout.

For Prangley this is also an opportunity to claim a win over a big name opponent to get his career moving in the right direction again after a five-fight win streak was snapped with a draw followed by a loss in Strikeforce.

Elsewhere in a very solid main-card line-up Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou faces Houston Alexander.   The well traveledSokoudjou has gone 2-0 in MMA competition so far this year, while 28 year-old Alexander is 1-1.

In a welterweight match-up Jorge Masdival, who once fought in the same backyard brawling video series as Kimbo Slice, puts his 20-5 MMA record on the line against former UFC bad boy Paul Daley (24-9-2) in what should be an entertaining stand-up war.

Shark Fights have had to alter the line-up slightly after Drew McFedries pulled out injured, but kudos to the match-making team for finding a strong replacement in Danillo Villerforte who fought for both the UFC and WEC last year.  He faces a tough test going up against Joey Villasenor who took new Strikeforce middleweight champion Jacare to a decision earlier in the year.

Rounding off the main card we have DREAM and Strikeforce regularTarec Saffiedine going up against wrestler Brock Larson who has compiled a 3-0 record since being released from the UFC in 2009.

It’s worth also throwing the spotlight on the prelims here considering that they will air live on Sherdog, and that they actually contain some pretty solid bouts under the circumstances.

The undercard is headed up by a featherweight championship bout featuring Sengoku’s Ronnie Mann Vs Doug Evans who once fought in the UFC, and more recently has competed on several occasions for Shark Fights.

Meanwhile the prelims also feature a number of familiar names such as UFC veteran Pete Spratt Vs Eric Davila, and Daniel Straus taking on WEC regular Karen Darabedyen.
