On June 18th the second set of Strikeforce heavyweight grand-prix bouts will finally get underway in Dallas, Texas.

Headlining the show is a quarter-final featuring a rematch between current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum, the man who broke Fedor Emelianenko’s long unbeaten run last year.

These two have fought before in PRIDE back in 2006, with Werdum coming out on top on that occasion thanks to a 2nd round Kimura submission, but Overeem is a much bigger, better and stronger opponent now and specifically requested this fight.

Meanwhile the last quarter-final of the grand-prix sees experienced campaigner Josh Barnett make his Strikeforce debut against Brett Rogers.

There’s also two other heavyweight showdowns scheduled for the main card, most notably two of Strikeforce’s best up and comer’s, Shane Del Rosario and Daniel Cormier squaring off in what should be a very intriguing match-up.

Valentijn Overeem Vs Chad Griggs is also being lined up for the Dallas show.

Finally the show has one final ace up it’s sleeve with the return of female superstar Gina Carano who will face an as yet unnamed opponent in her first visit to the cage in almost two years.
