The UFC have put together what looks to be another strong fight card for their first ever visit to Boston on August 28th for UFC 118.

UFC 118 is headlined by the title rematch between former dominant champion BJ Penn and the man who seized the belt from him in Abu Dhabi, Frankie Edgar.

The original bout was extremely close, and some observers, including myself, believed that Penn had done enough to secure victory, and so an immediate rematch was the only fair way to discover who is the rightful champion.

The co-main event of the evening is the much talked about MMA Vs Boxing showdown between UFC great Randy Couture and boxing legend James Toney.

Toney has no prior MMA experience but was so confident in his abilities that he hounded Dana White until he agreed to let him fight in the promotion. Will he prove to have bitten of more than he can chew against one of the all-time great’s in the sport though?

In a battle of the Brazilian’s jiu-jitsu master Demian Maia looks to get back on track after a disappointing title fight with Anderson Silva, as he takes on Mario Miranda who’s compiled an impressive 12-1 record to date.

In a bout that could determine the next challenger for the winner of the main event, Kenny Florian will attempt to be the fighter who breaks Gray Maynard’s impressive seven fight win streak.

Opening up the main card will be Nate Diaz and Marcus Davis.  Diaz impressed in his 170lb debut against Rory Markham, and will look to continue to establish himself in the division against Davis who got his career back on track with a win over Jonathan Goulet last time out.

Spike TV will be on hand to air two preliminary bouts for the UFC 118 card, namely Terry Etim Vs Joe Lauzon and Gerald Harris Vs Alessio Sakara.
