UFC 135 on September 24th marks the beginning of a series of important title fights taking place over the remaining months of this year.
On this occasion it’s light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones who headlines the show, putting his belt on the line against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
With Rampage already having accused Jones of putting spies in his camp and being too cocky there’s plenty of heat behind this match-up already and it’s only set to intensify as fight night approaches.
The co-main event for this fight was originally scheduled to be Matt Hughes Vs Diego Sanchez, but after Sanchez broke his hand in training Josh Koscheck has now stepped in as a late replacement.
Koscheck has been calling out Hughes for years so he jumped at the opportunity to fight him even though he’s spent the last nine months on the sidelines due to an orbital fracture sustained during his unsuccessful attempt to take the title from GSP late last year.
Truth be told the rest of the main card isn’t the strongest we’ve ever seen, but Nate Diaz return to lightweight to take on the hard-hitting Takanori Gomi has all the makings of a barnburner.
The pay-per-view portion of the card is rounded off with two heavyweight encounters with the UK’s Rob Broughton fighting Travis Browne, while in a clash of the veterans Mark Hunt takes on Ben Rothwell.
