With Christmas out the way it’s time to look forward to the next big date on the calender – Friday, December 30th when UFC 141 rumbles into Las Vegas looking to end the year with a bang.

Headlining the show is a heavyweight showdown between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem to establish who will be the next man to face current champion Junior Dos Santos for the title in 2012.

Co-main event duties goes to two of the most entertaining fighters on the roster, lightweight stars Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone who’ve developed some animosity between each other during the build-up to the event which should pay off with some pre-New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Octagon.

After spending much of 2011 on the treatment table after shoulder surgery one of the welterweight division’s best Jon Fitch will finally get back to business on Friday against Johny Hendricks who’s lost just one of his 11 pro-fights which includes seven in the UFC.

Rounding out the card is a light-heavyweight tussle between Alexander Gustafsson and Vladimir Matyushenko, and a featherweight scrap featuring Nam Phan and Jim Hettes.

Check out the full card below and be sure to make a note that this event is on Friday, not Saturday for a change.

  1. It was smart of Dana White and I am glad that this fight is set for Friday instead of Saturday so it will not conflict with any plans for the New Year. I have never been more excited about a fight, especially since it is not even for the title! I would really like to see Overeem win just so I can see him go against Dos Santos, but Lesnar does have the experience with UFC that may give him the upper hand against Overeem. Either way I am excited to watch, and being that I have already ordered the fights in HD through my job at DISH, I know that I am in for a treat! Cerrone vs. Diaz should also be very entertaining considering that these guys go in with nothing to lose, and it is this mentality that always makes fights more vicious. UFC 141 is going to be the best way to end 2011!
