This Saturday, April 21st the UFC will head to Atlanta for UFC 145 featuring one of the most anticipated title fights in quite some time.
That is of course the light-heavyweight title fight between current champion Jon Jones and Rashad Evans.
Evans has been desperate to get his hands on the belt again for some time, and he’s just as eager to teach his former training partner a lesson inside the Octagon. That’ll be easier said than done though as Jones has almost effortlessly brushed aside most of the top talent at 205lbs already and wants to put aside any doubt that he’s one of the best fighters in the world by defeating the man he once looked up to.
In what may be seen as a curious choice a welterweight contest between up and comers Rory MacDonald and Che Mills will serve as the evening’s co-main event. Despite being just 22 years-old MacDonald has certainly earned his place with a string of impressive wins against the likes of Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle and could well be a future title contender in the division. Mills on the other hand appears to be getting thrown into the deep end here as the Brit is just 1-0 in the UFC so far, though he did claim ‘KO Of The Night’ in his debut against Chris Cope.
There’s heavyweight action on the main card with Ben Rothwell needing a win to secure his future in the promotion against Brendan Schaub is also in search of a win after Big Nog broke his four-fight unbeaten run in Brazil last year.
Continuing down the card we have bantamweight action featuring former WEC champ Miguel Torres against one of the division’s young, rising stars Michael MacDonald.
Mark Hominick’s a talented fighter who’s had a rough run in the UFC lately with back-to-back losses and he’ll attempt to reverse his fortunes on Saturday night against Eddie Yagin.
The UFC have made the decision to extend the pay-per-view card to six fights for UFC 145 and that we’ll also get to see the lightweight tussle between Mark Bocek and Matt Wiman on the main card.
