We’re now less than a week away from the UFC 180 event in Mexico, yet the injury-struck show still doesn’t have a finalized bout order, so we can’t say for sure which fights will feature on the pay-per-view portion of the card.
What we do know is that the main event will feature an interim heavyweight title fight as Fabricio Werdum goes up against Mark Hunt in title holder Cain Velasquez’s absence.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event there’s a battle of welterweight top 10 contenders as Jake Ellenberger takes on former TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum.
A featherweight fight between Dennis Bermudez and Ricardo Lamas is also certain to feature on the evening’s main card in Mexico City.
Beyond that it’s anybody’s guess with a further 10 fights filling out the line-up with a cast of largely unheralded Mexican based fighters making their debuts after appearing on TUF: Latin America.
Perhaps the two finals from the show, featuring Alejandro Perez Vs Jose Quinonez at bantamweight and Leonardo Morales Vs Yair Rodriguez will end up with the final two spots on the PPV card, though originally they were set to establish who emerges as a TUF champ on the preliminary portion of the event on FOX Sports 1.
Let’s just hope neither Werdum or Hunt gets injured in the coming days or else this entire event is in serious danger of being KO’d.
