UFC 181 Fight Card

This coming Saturday night finds the UFC rounding out their 2014 pay-per-view schedule with a bang at UFC 181 in Las Vegas with a stacked card that includes two major title fights.

Headlining the show is a welterweight title rematch between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler, marking Hendricks first defense of the belt vacated by GSP earlier in the year after winning it in a closely contested five round battle with ‘Ruthless’ back in March.

Anthony Pettis is also looking to make his first title defense after injury setbacks and a stint as coach on TUF 20 kept him out of the Octagon for 15 months. He now faces former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez as he makes a second attempt to try to get his hands on UFC Gold.

There’s also heavyweight action on the main card with Travis Browne looking to put a loss to current No.1 contender Fabricio Werdum behind him when he goes up against Brendan Schaub who’s similarly looking to rebound after a controversial split decision defeat to Andrei Arlovksi.

Returning from long absences seems to be a recurring theme on the main card and Todd Duffee is at the top of the pile in that regard having spent the last two years out battling an affliction known as Parsonage Turner Syndrome. Now healthy, he returns to fight Anthony Hamilton.

Opening up the main card, Tony Ferguson will be looking to extend his winning streak to four fights and push into the lightweight top 15 against Abel Trujillo who’ll have similar aspirations after going undefeated in his last three outings.
