On January 22nd the UFC will host another ‘Fight For The Troops’ event (AKA Fight Night 23) at Fort Hood in Texas which will help to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Headlining the event will be a lightweight clash between Evan Dunham and Melvin Guillard. Dunham has been flying high in the 155lb weight class since his debut February of 2009, racking up four wins, and a controversial split decision loss to Sean Sherk last time out which many people believed he should have won has done little to halt his momentum.

Guillard has also gone on a run recently, producing three wins in a row, and now under the tutelage of Greg Jackson he’s now maturing and hoping to realize his full potential and make a run for the title in 2011.

The only three fights of TUF 10’s heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione’s MMA career have taken place inside the octagon, and all three have ended in victory.  He’ll get a chance to add a fourth when he takes on Tim Hague in the co-main event slot of the free Spike TV card.

Former WEC featherweight fighters Mark Hominick and George Roop make their UFC debut’s on the main card, with Hominick’s current four fight winning streak leaving him leaving him close to a title shot, while Roop’s 1-1-1 record in the WEC leaves him fighting for survival.

Also on the main card is another heavyweight match-up between Pat Barry and Joey Beltran which has the makings of a stand-up war and with both fighters coming off a loss this is a must-win.

Finally the televised portion of the card is rounded out by what should be an entertaining lightweight clash between The Ultimate Fighter season five competitors Cole Miller and Matt Wiman.
