UFC On FOX 3: Fight Card

This weekend will deliver the UFC’s third event on ‘big’ FOX and the promotion have put together a card that’s clearly been put together with entertaining match-ups in mind.

Headlining the show is a lightweight No.1 contender fight between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.

Diaz has shown his best form in the 155lb weight class to date in his latest 2-0 run after a spell at welterweight, picking up a ‘Fight Of The Night’ and ‘Submission of The Night’ award along the way, while Miller has only lost one fight in his last nine in the division making him long overdue a title shot.

Co-main event duties on this occasion are handed to a weterweight pairing of Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks. For Koscheck, after two unsuccessful title attempts against GSP it’s all about continuing to face top competition right now, and Hendricks certainly fits the bill given that he’s 7-1 in the UFC and is coming off the biggest win of his career, a 12 second KO win over Jon Fitch.

An exciting middleweight meeting between two possible future contenders in the division is also planned as leg-lock wizard Rousimar Palhares, who’s almost literally took home the limbs of five of his opponents during his run in the UFC, takes on Alan Belcher who’s well rounded on the feet and on the mat and is looking to extend his current three fight winning streak.

Finally, the four-fight main card is rounded off by a heavyweight encounter between hard-hitting strikers Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson. Both men’s records are littered with KO and TKO victories and so the UFC are clearly hoping this one will provide an exciting finish to kick off the televised card in style.
