On April 17th the WEC will launch their first ever pay-per-view event with a stacked card for WEC 48 that includes two major title fights.
Headlining the event is potentially the biggest fights in WEC history as Jose Aldo (16-1), one of the sports most exciting young stars and current featherweight champion, takes on the WEC’s poster-boy and former champ Urijah Faber (23-3).
The co-main event also packs a serious punch as lightweight champion Ben Henderson (11-1) and Donald Cerrone (11-2 1nc) meet again after having provided the fight of the year in their first meeting back at WEC 43 in October of last year.
Mike Brown (23-5), the man who ruled the roost at 145lbs until Aldo arrived will also feature on the main card as he looks to get back into title contention against former Ultimate Fighter finalist Manny Gamburyan (10-4) who has two wins on his record since joining the promotion from the UFC.
Meanwhile KO specialist Anthony Njokuani (12-2 1nc), who has terrorized the lightweight division in his three fights in the WEC to date (picking up ‘Knockout Of The Night’ awards on each occasion) will be back in the cage against Shane Roller (7-2), who is 4-1 in the WEC to date.
Rounding off the main card is a bantamweight bout featuring Antonio Banuelos (17-5) and Scott Jorgensen (9-3), who replaces the injured Damacio Page. The two have fought before at WEC 41, with Banuelos emerging with the split-decision victory.
