This coming Saturday night sees World Series Of Fighting getting underway with their first event of the year on NBC Sports.

Headlining this one is an eyebrow raising heavyweight showdown between former UFC stars Andrei Arlovski and Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

That’s an unlikely pairing given that 18 months ago Johnson was fighting at welterweight, but he’s gone 4-0 since being cut from the UFC fighting primarily at 205lbs and his punching power has remained intact so perhaps it’s not as crazy a match-up as it might first appear, and it’s certainly a spectacle if nothing else.

Co-main event honors for this one are handed to the bantamweight pairing of Marlon Moraes and Tyson Nam who hold a three and four fight winning streak respectively.

Two former UFC fighters Josh Burkman and Aaron Simpson clash in a welterweight meeting with Burkman calling for a title shot if he can extend his unbeaten run to four fights on Saturday night.

Veteran Brazilian fighter Paulo Filho who made his name in PRIDE returns to U.S soil for the first time since the WEC days to take on Dave Branch who’s gone 3-1 since being released from the UFC.

Finally on the main card, former Strikeforce fighter Gesias ‘JZ’ Cavalcante looks to build on a win at WSOF 1 when he takes on Justin Gaethje.
