Alexander Gustafsson made short work of MMA veteran Vladimir Matyushenko tonight at UFC 141.
Gustafsson looked the more lively fighter from the opening bell while Matyushenko seemed to be finding trouble getting his range against his long, lean opponent.
In an attempt to close the distance Matyushenko came charging in at Gustafsson and immediately paid the price, walking straight into a stiff jab that floored him.
Gustafsson pounced on him with strikes and as Matyushenko turtled up the referee quickly stepped in to save him from further punishment with just 2.13mins on the clock.
With this big win under his belt Gustafsson improves to 5-1 in the UFC, 13-1 for his MMA career overall, and notably all five of his victories in the Octagon have been finishes.
That suggests the Swedish fighter may now have earned a step up in competition at 205lbs in 2012.
