The UFC will once again offer the entire undercard for it’s UFC 130 event live via a combination of Spike TV and Facebook on May 28th.
The action will begin on the UFC’s official facebook page where the first three preliminary bouts will air. That will encompass Bart Paleszewski Vs Gleison Tibau, Renan Pegado Vs Cole Escovedo and Chris Carisio Vs Michael Macdonald.
Following that it’s time to switch on to Spike TV where a further two prelims, featuring Kendall Grove Vs Tim Boetsch, and Miguel Torres Vs Demetrious Johnson.
Then it’s on to the main card which is available on pay-per-view, headlined by Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Vs Matt Hamill.
While the UFC have been experimenting with putting on prelims on Facebook recently, this will be only the second event ever to air all the prelims live after first trailing it at UFC 129 last month.
At first it seemed that was going to be a one-off to mark a particularly significant event in the UFC’s history, but the fact that they are continuing with it is exciting news for all MMA fans, and we can only hope that is going to become the norm moving forward.
Really it makes a lot of sense as it’s a win-win situation for everyone. The fans get to see more fights, the prelim fighters get more exposure, and the UFC is afforded more time to convince fans to buy the main PPV event, while also helping to build the reputation of some of their lesser known fighters.
