Just when you thought Strikeforce: Overeem Vs Werdum couldn’t cram in any more fights the promotion announce another worthy match-up to the June 18th show.

On this occasion a notable woman’s 145lb bout between Amanda Nunes and Julie Kedzie has now been made official.

At the age of 22 Nunes looks to have the talent to become a future star after stringing together a six fight winning-streak, including a 14 second KO of Julia Budd in her Strikeforce debut back in January. If she continues to put on performances like that then she could become a worthy challenger for current champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos.

Kedzie will have other ideas though, and she is the more experienced fighter and is currently enjoying a four fight winning streak of her own which takes her pro MMA record to 16-8.

The addition of this fight further strengthens an already impressive looking night of fights for Strikeforce which will also feature another prominent woman’s bout in the form of Gina Carano Vs Sarah D’Alelio, while the last two quarter-finals of the heavyweight GP featuring Alistair Overeem Vs Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett Vs Brett Rogers take top billing.

With other quality fights such as KJ Noons Vs Jorge Masvidal and Daniel Cormier Vs Jef Monson on tap it appears that Strikeforce’s new owners Zuffa are going all out to put on a major event next month, and the hope now will be that the fights that don’t make their way onto the Showtime broadcast will instead be shown live by some other means such as Facebook.
