With all the injury woes we’ve been reporting recently, it’s a relief to be able to finally share a bit of good news.

Speaking to tatame, Anderson Silva revealed that he is on the mend after recently undergoing elbow surgery.

“I’m almost totally recovered, thanks God the recovering is pretty fast,” he told the Brazilian site.

At one time Silva was set to defend his middleweight title against Vitor Belfort at the ill-fated UFC 108 card, but he was forced to pull out after discovering that his elbow was not healing as fast as had been originally anticipated.

That process now appears to have accelerated and he says that he is now, “starting to train a little bit.”

His title showdown with Belfort is now expected to take place early in the 2nd quarter of next year, with rumors currently pinpointing UFC 112 in Abu Dabhi as a strong possibility for the bout.

“2010 will be great,” Silva says.
