At this moment in time long-time UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva sits atop many critics pound-for-pound lists as the greatest fighter in the sport.

On Saturday night Silva watched a young up and coming superstar, Jon Jones, demolish one of Silva’s countrymen and former training partner’s Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC 128.

Perhaps it’s too early to suggest that Jones could one day replace Silva at the top of the rankings, but ‘The Spider’ was certainly impressed with what he saw from him.

“Jon Jones…I don’t know…Amazing,” Silva said in rare interview with UltMMA spoken entirely in English. “My opinion – Jon Jones is the best in this category…[he’ll be the] champion for a long time.”

In the aftermath of Jones win some, including UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, were salivating at the prospect of a Jones Vs Silva fight at some stage in the future, but though he’s fought a 205lbs before, Silva doesn’t appear to have a strong desire to move back up again.

“I don’t know. I’m very happy in my category. I have my own problems in my category!” he laughs.
