Anderson Silva Will Talk To Family Before Making Retirement Decision

Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva successfully excercised his demons last night when he comfortably defeated Nick Diaz by unanimous decision at UFC 183 in the same building where just over a year ago he broke his leg.

Afterwards an emotional Silva was uncertain if he would fight on or would now decide to call time on his career. It does sound however as if his family will have a big role to play in what comes next for the Brazilian superstar who turns 40 in April.

“When I finished, I went back to the locker room, and I called my family,” Silva stated at the post-fight press conference. “My son, Kalyl, said, ‘Dad, congratulations, but done. Back to home, please. No more fight.’ So this is my son.

“I need to talk to my family. I love my job. This is me. I love to fight, but I need to talk to my family because this is more important in my life now.”

Whatever happens we’ve definitely not seen the last of Silva as he’s going to head straight into filming The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 where he’ll serve as a coach opposite Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, but they won’t fight each other at the show’s conclusion.a
