TUF Season 9 finalist Andre Winner has been cut from the UFC’s roster following a three-fight losing streak in the lightweight division.
After losing out by decision to Ross Pearson in the TUF 9 finale The UK fighter quickly bounced back with an impressive KO win over Rori Delgado and a decision win over Rafael Oliveira, and his slick striking skills had him marked him out as one to watch.
Since then he’s struggled however, being outwrestled by Nik Lentz for three rounds back in the summer of last year, then quickly submitted by Dennis Siver in Germany, and finally, and perhaps most significantly, being outshone in the striking department by former WEC fighter Anthony Njokuani at UFC 132 earlier in this month.
That leaves the 29 year-old with a 2-4 record overall in the UFC and lead to him being shown the exit by the promotion.
Winner is unlikely to be out of action for long, with UK promotion BAMMA certain to be amongst those seeking his signature in the coming weeks as he looks to rebuild his career outside of the UFC.
