Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis was the victim of an arson attack at his home in Milwaukee in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Thankfully the UFC fighter wasn’t directly involved in the incident, but the three cars in his driveway were all set alight by an unidentified arsonist.
One of Pettis’ neighbors told FOX 6 that he had spotted “a car speeding through the neighborhood” right around the same time that a large bang was heard, followed by the vehicles at the fighters residence catching on fire.
Police are currently investigating the incident and believe that the arsonist set two of the vehicles on fire using an accelerant, with the flames then spreading to a third vehicle.
“Anthony has no idea who could be responsible for this incident or why someone would damage his property in such a way,” a representative from Pettis’ management team told TMZ Sports.
“He is shocked and confused as to who would randomly commit such a hateful crime like this to his family.
“He has no ongoing issues with anyone in his community, and he is very well known in Milwaukee for the work and dedication he has put in to helping his city and creating jobs and resources for the local citizens.”
“Anthony is disappointed that this person(s) would compromise the safety of his family and destroy his personal property.”
“Law enforcement is investigating this as an act of arson and Anthony is hopeful that they will get to the bottom of this so that he and his family can feel safe in their home.”
The disturbing incident took place just days after it was announced that Pettis’ next fight will be against one of the featherweight division’s top contenders Max Holloway at UFC 206 in Canada on December 10th.
