After seven years with the UFC, Anthony Rocco Martin will now have be looking for a new promotion to call home.
Martin’s deal with the UFC came to an end last June following a decision loss against Neil Magny, and though the exact details aren’t known, they’ve now decided to part ways.
In total Martin fought 15 times in the Octagon, overcoming a tough start after losing his first two fights in a row, to compile a 9-6 UFC record overall.
Martin’s best run in the promotion saw him win four fights in the space of a year, starting in 2018, defeating the likes of Keita Nakamura, Ryan LaFlare, Jake Matthews and Sergio Moraes along the way.
He had gone on to lose two of his last three fights, but there was no shame in that, given that the defeats were against the aforementioned Magny and Damien Maia, and so in some respects it’s surprising that the UFC didn’t seek to keep him on the roster.
“I am excited for what the future holds,” the 31-year-old Martin said in a statement. “I’m ranked 22 on Tapology. I feel like I am entering my prime and can’t wait for a new home. I want to find a place that I can compete to be a world champion and push to be the best in the world.”
