Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva is the latest Strikeforce heavyweight star to make the transition to the UFC, and his debut is set to take place in April.

That’s the word from Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira who claims in his latest column for Brazilian newspaper ‘Extra’ that former champion Cain Velasquez could be his first opponent.

So far Silva’s own representatives themselves say that his opponent has not yet been named, but that Velasquez is on the list.

‘Bigfoot’ claimed the most notable win of his MMA career last year when he defeated Fedor Emelianenko in the quarter-finals of the Strikeforce Heavyweight GP, taking his MMA record to 16-2 overall.

Tournament alternate Daniel Cormier then stepped in to fight him in the semi-finals and produced an upset, knocking out Bigfoot in the first round.

Nevertheless, at 6ft 5″ and 265lbs ‘Bigfoot’ remains an imposing figure and is suprisingly well versed in BJJ for a heavyweight of his size and will be a worthwhile addition to the UFC’s ranks.
