A new report from Fighters Only today suggests that September’s UFC 119 event is set to have a new headliner after Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was forced of his rematch with Frank Mir out due to injury.

It’s not clear at this stage what ‘Big Nog’s’ injury is, but it’s believed it will keep him out until 2011.  That’s a tough blow for the Brazilian who’s become somewhat injury and illness prone in recent years.

Meanwhile the UFC is apparently preparing to unveil, “a really big name opponent” in his place.

It’s not clear who that will be at this stage however.  Naturally Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez are ruled out due to their upcoming title fight and Junior Dos Santos has now been confirmed to face the winner of that bout.  Meanwhile Shane Carwin only recently defeated Mir convincingly so it’s doubtful that it would be him.

That leaves few ‘big name’ opponents on the table.  Personally my money is on Mirko Cro Cop who is rumored to be close to a new three fight deal with the promotion after ending his current deal with a win over Pat Barry at UFC 115 in June.

Stay tuned to https://mmainsight.com as I’d expect that now the cat is out of the bag the UFC will move swiftly to announce the new opponent.
