There was good news for Bellator today when the TV ratings for their 40th event which aired live on MTV2 on Saturday night revealed that had pulled in an average of 218,000 viewers.

That’s the second highest ratings of the season so far, and was backed up by an impressive 190,000 viewers tuning in for the replay immediately afterwards.

Truth be told it’s a little tricky to decipher exactly why the ratings made such a significant jump from a season low of 150,000 viewers just two weeks ago.

The show featured less star power than last weeks edition which drew an audience of 174,000, and it also had to make do with being overlapped during it’s second hour by Strikeforce: Diaz Vs Daley which was busy pulling 528,000 viewers on Showtime.

Whatever the reason it’s welcome news and it’ll be interesting to see if they can now hold steady in the coming weeks.
