Bellator’s TV ratings on MTV2 continue to be somewhat erratic, though the good news is that last weekend’s Bellator 42 event showed a marked improvement on the previous week’s.

Figures released today show that an average of 199,000 viewers tuned in to watch the season four light-heavyweight semi-finals, with 180,000 then tuning in for the immediate replay.

That’s 67,000 viewers up on the live showing from the previous week, and makes it the fourth most-watched show of the season so far.

What’s interesting, and frankly a little puzzling is that this wasn’t as stacked a fight card compared to some of their other recent events. Going forward the hope will surely be to not only increase their ratings, but also to find some stability in their core audience as well.

They may well find that tough to achieve this weekend due to the fact they’ll be going up against the juggernaught that is UFC 129 which is going to soak up almost all of the media attention in the coming days, and due to the fact that the entire UFC undercard will be airing for free on Facebook.
