Bellator had the first of their ‘summer season’ events last night, giving them an opportunity to kick off their featherweight tournament.

Star of the show on the night was Pat Curran who managed to pull off a rare Peruvian necktie submission against Ron Palomino to secure his spot in the semi-finals.

Marlon Sandro was Bellator’s big signing for the tournament, but he didn’t breeze through the quarter-finals, instead having to make do with a close split-decision win over Genair Da Silva in his debut showing, though to be fair he was well worth the victory.

Meanwhile Nazereno Malagarie broke out his submission reportiore on Jacob Devree in their bout, before finally submitting him with a guillotine choke in the third round, while a first round uppercut and hook combo was the beginning of the end for Adam Schindler, with Ronnie Mann finally KO’ing him with ground and pound.

Sandro now gets Malagarie in the semi’s while Curran takes on Mann.
