Ben Saunders and Douglas Lima will contest Bellator’s season 5 welterweight tournament final after both were victorious in their semi-final match-ups at Bellator 53 last night.

Saunders had to fight from his back for a significant portion of his fight with Luis Santos and it gave him a chance to show off his BJJ skills, threatening with frequent submission attempts before finally locking in an americana in the third round.

Meanwhile Lima booked his spot in the finale after taking the fight to Chris Lozano on the feet and eventually KO’ing him with a right hand mide-way through the second round.

Elsewhere Ronnie Mann earned his spot in the season 6 featherweight tournament with a submission win over Kenny Foster, while Thiago Santos finds himself slotted into the semi-finals of the current heavyweight tournament to replace the injury Mike Hayes after securing an early submission win over Josh Burns in the reserve bout.
