After producing arguably the best fight in the history of Bellator Fighter Championships with Eddie Alvarez Vs Michael Chandler at the weekend, there was more good news for the promotion today when it emerged that the event had also delivered the joint best ratings for their fifth season.

An average of 269,000 viewers tuned into MTV2 to watch the event live, with a further 160,000 watching the immediate replay.

The broadcast peaked with an impressive audience total of 345,000 during the stellar main event showdown which produced a back-and-forth stand-up war over four rounds for the Bellator lightweight belt.

The ratings will delight both Bellator and MTV execs who had gone up against stiff opposition with UFC 139 airing on the same night.

These results show that when Bellator do bring out their big guns that they can produce solid numbers regardless of what other MMA action they are competing with on the same night, and that is a breakthrough for them.
