Bellator enjoyed a successful end to their fifth season on Saturday night with an average of 265,000 viewers tuning into the live ‘Bellator 59’ event on MTV2. An immediate replay then pulled in a further 136,000 viewers.

The live numbers rank the show as the fifth most watched in the promotion’s history on MTV2, and third best of the current season, just 4,000 short of the previous week’s tally.

The event, which featured both the bantamweight and heavyweight tournament finals benefited from a quiet weekend on the MMA landscape, giving them a rare chance to step out from under the UFC’s shadow.

The promotion will now move on to host further seasons in 2012 on MTV2 before making the switch to Spike TV in 2013.
