Bellator held the opening round of their latest lightweight quarter-final last night on MTV2.

There was a major upset in the headlining fight as former lightweight tournament finalist Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire was defeated by a kimura submission from Lloyd Woodward early in the second round of their bout.

Also notable on the submission front was Brent Weedman’s impressive second round Von Flue Choke of JJ Ambrose.

Jpining them in the semi-finals will be Rick Hawn who defeated Ricard Tirloni by TKO, and Thiago Michel who scraped past Rene Nazare by split decision.
