Bellator 83 didn’t exactly go according to plan, with the main event, this seasons featherweight tournament final byeween Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev having to be canceled at the very last minute after Shamhalaev fell ill with food poisoning.
The good news is that since it’s not a serious illness the fight will only be postponed a week, so it’ll feature on the final Bellator card of the year.
Elsewhere Bellator female champion Zoila Gurgel suffered an upset loss to Jessica Eye in surprisingly swift fashion. Eye hurt Gurgel on the feet immediately after the opening bell, dropping her to the canvas. Gurgel got back up only to be caught in a standing arm triangle which put her to sleep with just 58 seconds on the clock.
